For those who were waiting in excitement for the latest season of The White Lotus, you’ll be pleased to know that you too can stay in the lap of luxury in Thailand, with no shady business involved. The hit show’s third season is, if possible, even more hotly anticipated that the previous two, not least because of its dreamy setting, which sees the plot unfold on Thailand’s palm-speckled islands.
There are plenty of new and intriguing characters this time around, played by actors everyone is sure to recognise. These include Michelle Monaghan (Mission Impossible), Carrie Coon (Fargo) and Leslie Bibb (Iron Man) and Aimee Lou Wood, who rose to fame in Sex Education.
Viewers will also spot household favourite Jason Isaacs of Harry Potter fame, who plays financier Timothy Ratliff, alongside his on-screen wife Parker Posey and line-up of offspring, played by Alessandro Nivola, Sarah Catherine Hook and Patrick Schwarzenegger (yes, that Schwarzenegger).
As with previous seasons, the characters are all up to no good in an over-the-top luxury setting. The resort in the show may be fictional, but is actually a clever mix of some of Thailand’s best luxury hotels. And if they weren’t on everyone’s radar beforehand, the White Lotus effect is certain to see these hotels skyrocketing to the top of peoples bucket-lists. With Thailand already comig out on top for one of the most sought-after destinations to visit in 2025, why not add a little luxury to your trip with a stay at these resorts?

Four Seasons, Koh Samui
The main hotel used for filming The White Lotus season three was the Four Seasons, Koh Samui, a five-star hotel on one of Thailand’s most picture-perfect islands. The hotel is designed in Thai style, combining plenty of teak and open-air living with jungle and ocean views. Guests can choose from 71 private villas or 11 premium residences, each coming with private pools and terraces and breezy, beachy interiors. The residences take things up a notch, with up to five bedrooms, vast infinity pools and dreamy bathrooms with free-standing tubs that look out over the Gulf of Thailand, not to mention their own ‘resident’s assistant’ AKA private butler.
Surrounded by jungle on a private hillside, it’s easy to see why scenes were filmed at the hotel’s pool, beach and atmospheric restaurants - which, by the way, include a seafood grill, in-villa dining options and multiple cocktail bars. For guests who are more relaxation than revenge, the hotel has a whole range of activities and excursions, such as cruises, ATV trips and water sports, and tours to nearby elephant sanctuaries and Muay Thai schools.

Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas
For those paying attention to the show, spa manager Belinda’s Wellness Sanctuary Spa in season three wasn’t actually filmed at the Four Seasons Koh Samui, as similar as it may look. The creative team instead used Anantara Mai Khao Phuket to film these scenes, on Phuket’s northern edge. Another tranquil jungle escape, the spa here features traditional pavilions hovering over the water. Visitors can soak in outdoor baths surrounded by the sounds of bird song and rustling leaves before selecting from a menu of massages, wellness journeys and Ayurvedic treatments.
Outside of the spa, are 70 suites, more than 80 pool villas and 30 pavilions. To stay on trend, we recommend the Lotus Villa, which offers a private pool and sun deck, and a bedroom opening out into your own private paradise. The bathroom is made even more dreamy thanks to the alfresco bathtub, perfect for a relaxing evening under the stars. There are also a dozen drinking and dining choices, including Southern Thai cuisine at La Sala, omakase at Tree House and the Infinity Bar, for days when you can’t drag yourself away from the pool.

Anantara Lawana
You’ll have to seek out another Anantara hotel to replicate The White Lotus’ bar scenes, which were filmed at Anantara Lawana in Koh Samui, located on a private stretch of beach in Chaweng. Accommodation is pure luxury here, with Sea View Pool Villas being the top choice. Canopy beds and private terraces overlook the bay, and guests can cool off in a private infinity pool too. There’s enough space on the traditionally-styled deck to host dinner outside and you private villa host will be on hand at all times.
However, it’s not the rooms here that feature in The White Lotus, but the hotel’s Singing Bird Lounge, one of Koh Samui’s most unique dining experiences. This bar is perched in the canopy of a 120-year-old tree, combining alfresco drinking and dining with treetop views and cocktails inspired by the birds you’ll hear chattering in the surrounding foliage.

Anantara Bophut
Many of The White Lotus season three’s miscellaneous scenes were filmed at Anantara Bophut in Koh Samui, such as at its tropical tree-lined entrance, foyer and pool. Rooms and suites here are more contemporary than other Anantara resorts, but still exude luxury Thai design. Request a Garden Pool Suite or better yet, a Beachfront Pool Suite for maximum space. The latter has a private garden overlooking the beach, terrace, outdoor dining area and a swimming pool complete with a comfy daybed, along with an open-plan bedroom and living area.
There’s an impressive spa here too, designed by none other than architect Bill Bensley, or guests can try yoga on the beach, cooking classes or simply relax by the hotel’s beachfront infinity pool. To keep the set-jetting on track, the aptly named Guilty bar and restaurant is the place to go for delectable South American cuisine.
Samui On Screen
While we would recommend spending most of your time whiling away the days in the surrounds of an Anantara or the Four Seasons Koh Samui, we’ll add a few cultural attractions from the White Lotus to your list too. In the island’s north, Wat Pu Khao Thong is an intricately decorated white temple the characters visit in the show, while the fictional group are also lucky enough to explore Mu Ko Ang Thong National Marine Park, a nearby archipelago of jungle-covered islands and kaleidoscopic reefs.
The Fisherman’s Village, also in the north, is the place to pick up souvenirs or a bite to eat at the night market, while beaches used for filming include Ya Nui Beach, where the characters first arrive, Choeng Mon Beach, and Kamala Beach’s exclusive Cafe del Mar. More will be revealed about the series’ Bangkok filming locations, which include the Mandarin Oriental and iconic spots like the Grand Palace and Chatuchak Weekend Market, as the show continues to unfold.
