The return of Dusit Thani
It’s been a long five years, but this iconic Bangkok hotel has made it worth the wait.
After a five year, multimillion baht redevelopment, one of the capital’s most loved addresses returned with an impressive new look at the end of September 2024, adding to Thailand’s roster of fresh hotel openings. Overlooking Lumpini Park, designer André Fu has created a masterpiece with no expense spared, with the park being the focus of the hotel’s 257 spacious rooms.
A room with a view
Every room at Dusit Thani has high ceilings and panoramic windows, allowing guests to enjoy the skyline from their bed or comfortable window seat. Soft furnishings and Thai heritage details complete the interiors, while the marble bathrooms have dual vanities and free-standing tubs.
Culinary crafts
From morning coffee to afternoon tea and world-class evening meals, Dusit Thani has isn’t short of memorable restaurants and bars to carry visitors through the day. China and Thailand meet at The Pavilion, which continues the legacy of the original Dusit Thani’s Mayflower. Expect hand-crafted dim sum and authentic Thai specialities such as grilled Chiang Rai black pork neck and fresh Tom Yum soup.
Currently open are Dusit Gourmet, the hotel’s home of baked goods, and The Grand Lobby Bar, serving afternoon tea and Thai-inspired cocktails. Opening this month is Cannubi by three-Michelin-starred Umberto Bombana, and just in time for Christmas, guests can look forward to the Spire Rooftop Bar and 1970 Bar.
Insider tip:
Do things right and opt for a Terrace Suite, which adds a private outdoor space with a hot tub, sun loungers and space for open-air dining above the city.
On the wellness front, Devarana Wellness is expected to open imminently with tailored spa experiences for guests. Dusit Thani also features one of Bangkok’s largest ballrooms, The Napalai Grand Ballroom, which boasts eight-metre high windows and 55-metre, skyline-framing windows, cementing its spot on the luxury hotel and event space scene.
